When the well known Italian brand SMEG teamed up with great fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana, they asked a few Italian artists to handpaint a limited number of SMEG’s vintage style  FAB28 refrigerators, among those artist there are the Bevilacqua Brothers.  They handpainted 14 of the “Refrigerators of Art” bringing emblems from Sicilian heritage and folklore to life. Each refrigerator is unique and a true work of art since it takes about 100’s of hours to be painted.  All the refrigerators facades feature images took from the traditional poetic marionette theatre and the Sicilian Cart paintings such as Trinacris symbols, cart wheels, Medieval knights and battle scenes. All the creations are dominated by bright yellow, intense blue, emerald green and deep black, representing the hot Sicilian sun, the sparkling sea and the harsh lava on Mount Etna.  Some of the Refrigerators of Art are now exhibited in SMEG’s shops all around the, others World are part of private collections.
